How To Load Service Books on Blackberry Storm
Once you′ve updated your OS, many times you need to reload your service books. There are 3 ways you can find your service books.
1. You can have your carrier resend them to your device, or retrieve them from your carriers website. This is not an option for T Mobile Blackberry Storm users, since the Storm is not a T Mobile phone, and will not show as an option for the device model on the web site. However you may be able to have Customer Care resend them to your device. Call 611.
2. You can download Generic Service Books for T Mobile here.
3. You can retrieve them from a backup file made when you upgraded your OS.
For T Mobile Storm users, I recommend #2. Here is a step by step guide.
* For other BB devices, these steps should work for you as well.
1. Click the link above to download the Service Books. When this window pops up, Click Save.
2. You’ll be given the option to choose a folder to save the Service books to, make sure you remember where you saved them. ( If you do in fact forget, you can go to the Start Menu, and search tmo_servicebooks, and it should give you the location)
3. You now need to open your Blackberry Desktop Manager. You also need to connect your BB to your computer via the USB cable. When you do, you’ll see in the bottom left corner, that your PIN will show when its connected. Now click Backup and Restore.
4.You’ll see that this menu gives you the option to Backup, Restore, or Advanced. For this task we’ll be using the Advanced option. Click the Advanced button indicated by the yellow arrow.
5. Now you’ll need to click the File dropdown menu on the upper left corner. Now click Open. This will open your folders, so you can find the Service books file.
6. Now just navigate to the folder where you saved the Service Books. When you find them, just click to select, and click Open.
7.The file should now appear in your Desktop Manager.
8. Click on the Service Books to highlight the file, then click the arrows pointing to the right.
9. Once you click the arrows, the Desktop Manager will load the file, onto your Storm.
Now you can see that the Service Book files have been loaded onto your device. When the process is complete, you can disconnect your device. Check your APN settings, Host Routing, and you should now have the Browser Icon and MMS capabilities.
